Qoya is based on the idea that through movement we remember.
We remember our essence is wise, wild, and free.
Wise: calling on the wisdom of yoga.
Wild: the creative expression in dance.
Free: expanding our capacity to enjoy being in our bodies through feminine movement.
Qoya is designed to feel how the body and movement are a portal to remembering, and to notice how our perspective shifts when instead of just going through the motions we begin to savor each moment as sacred.
An important aspect of Qoya is that there’s no way you can do it wrong, and the way you know you’re doing it right is that it feels true in your body. In many ways, Qoya is a path of self-initiation and a practice of inner validation.
Theme for This Class: Illuminate the Dark.
As we approach the Winter Solstice we are invited to rest in the dark, to slow down, and to pause.
Soon the light will pour in again. But in this moment, we have an opportunity to look around and explore all that has been tucked away in the darkness, and to allow our attention to illuminate our most precious and tender places.
On December 18th, 3 days before the Solstice, please gather with us to honor this sacred time and dance with your relationship to illuminating the dark. May this dance offer you a deeper sense of self-knowing and maybe even a few treasures to bring forward into the light.
This offering is for women-identified to express and move their bodies without inhibition in a safe, intentional space.
